Express Your Nails with Spring ’14 Fashion Colors!

nailcolors spring'

I recently did a post on Fashion Colors for Fall/Winter ’13 in which I talked about how different fashion designers incorporated those lovely hues, but pages have been turned with the commencement of new year. So as the latest Pantone color report has been revealed, I thought of introducing the palette to you in a bit different way – by carefully selecting assorted brands of nail colors relative to Pantone Fashion Colors for Spring 2014.
Time to clear the decks and prepare your fingertips for taking a dip into the fun colors of springtide! Let’s have a look at the colors one by one:

  1. O2M Breathable Nail Enamel – 667 | INGLOT Cosmetics
From the collection also known as “Halal” nail enamels which are permeable to water and oxygen, so can easily become favorites among the Muslim ladies. Close to Placid Blue, this calming blue echoes the solace of clear sky.

  3. Agent Lavender | Chine Glaze
Want to show your nails off in the romantic Violet Tulip? Then go for this soft bluish purple which reminds of freshly blossomed periwinkle flowers. Will look alluring on any complexion!

  5. Mint Candy Apple | Essie
Just like the nail polish label, Hemlock is the most yummy (and cutest) color of the bunch. This milky green looks like it is inspired from the visual blend of white and green seen in the ornamental flower clusters against their foliage during springtime.

  7. DWS | Illamasqua
This season there is a couple of neutral shades – one of them is Paloma which is similar to this cemented grey nail varnish. The power of this muted and modest shade is not to be underestimated! Because it can give your nails the elegance and sophistication they desire at times.

  9. Sienna | Julep
Another neutral shade of the season, Sand, is seen whispering through this dull and delicate gold nail varnish. Perfect if you want to go metallic in the spring!

  11. Amchoor | NARS
Freesia, the loudest of all, can be flaunted with this flashy vibrant yellow hue. If you are bold and enjoy the ‘limelight’ then go give your nails the splash of this yellow!

  13. Are We There Yet? | OPI
As friendly and easy-going as it looks, I had the most tough time looking for the nail color closest to Cayenne and this is what I found. This “perfect melon shade” is the RED of the season, which has coral tones spiced up.

  15. Arizona | Zoya
This one was the second hardest nail color to find! Cover your nails with some ‘juiciness’ of Celosia Orange with this fun tropical shade which is bright yet soft.

  17. Molly Coddled | Butter LONDON
And now, the ‘queen’ of 2014 color palette: Radiant Orchid! The most desirable of the purple – the sweetness of lilac combined with the magic of lavender – that “intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination”. You will fall in love with this.

  19. Electric Blue | Dior
Anyone can get bedazzled with this Dazzling Blue, specially if it’s adorned on your fingertips! For a nail color, this saturated strong blue is a must-have as it’s one-of-a-kind shade.

Hope you enjoyed this short kaleidoscopic roller-coaster =)
Pamper your nails and do get them to express most of these spring colors!

7 Essentials to Pack for a Road-trip

Recently I partook an adventure, going on a long road-trip from one city to another (1600 km!) through the deserts of Saudi Arabia. 20 hours drive was indeed a fun expedition, stopping by occasionally to admire some breathtaking sceneries, but was no piece of cake as rest-stops with motel and cafeteria facilities along the highway were encountered after very long intervals. But if a checklist of certain essentials is made and packed along before setting off, your road-trip could be comfortable, less tedious and more enjoyable.

Here is a list of those essentials I gathered from my own experience, some of these I was relieved that I took along, rest of them I wished I did!

  • First-Aid Kitfirst aid kit

Let me first share the mishap that took place during my trip. It was a bumpy road where we stopped to get some tea from a nearby cafeteria. When the car started, I lost balance of my cup of steaming hot tea I was holding and all of it splashed onto my hand. My hand was badly scalded but thanks to my dad who quickly poured cold water on it. Luckily we even had ointment for healing burns, so applied that too. With these quick measures my skin was saved from further damage and a torturous long trip.

When driving across the remote areas there’s not a good chance you would find any medical facility so first-aid kit is a MUST in every car! Even minor injuries could become severe if not treated immediately.

  • road-map-clip-art1Map

Whether you know the routes or not, a map and a navigation system in your car or GPS on phones will always come handy and save you a lot of time you might waste in trolling around, looking for a detour to avoid traffic.

  • Chargers

Keep a travel charger for your phone and other electronic devices, like chargepods which have multiple adapters to charge more than one device simultaneously.

  • toiletriesToiletries

Even if you do come across one after miles of drive, you can never trust public toilet for sufficient water supply. Always bring along a good stock of paper towels, toilet papers, wet-tissues and garbage-bags. Trust me, get more than enough because there is always a chance of running low on them considering the unexpected occurrence of motion sickness or any spill that needs clean-up.

Other essentials to keep: soap, laundry detergent (you want to keep things clean, stain-free and smelling good), mouthwash, sunblock, moisturizing lotion, deodorant, etc.

  • Disposable dishes

Taking regular dishware in your travel-kit and going through the pain of cleaning them is quite impractical. But you need something to put your food on and eat or drink with, right? Plastic plates, spoons and glasses are lightweight and safe to use. For hot beverages, use paper cups.

Also, cling-films and foil-wraps could be a wonderful addition to your kit. You can snugly wrap those leftovers and protect your half-eaten sandwiches or fruits from dust and flies, while avoiding any nasty food spillage in your car.

  • Snackslunch-box-vector

Help yourself with some travel-friendly eats like sandwiches, chips, carrots, crackers, nuts, etc, along the way when dining options are limited. A vacuum flask full of your favorite hot drink will go a long way. It will be a bonus if you have space to take along a cooler to keep your soft drinks cold and an electric kettle you can use at rest stops to make a fresh cup of tea/coffee while being easy on your wallet.

  • Waterwater-bottle

This should have gone without saying but I’m not just talking about a couple of individual drinking water bottles but ALSO extra gallons of water for multipurpose usage like cleaning, washing and also for your car.

Top 5 Halloween Picks!

1- Horror Flick – The Conjuring

This is not your average horror.. this is the REAL deal which is void of cheap jump scares. After all, this movie scored “R” rating purely because it was TOO scary for it to be PG-13!

Here is the synopsis:

2- Nail Lacquer – DEBORAH LIPPMANN Wicked Set

Inspired by Broadway’s popular musical “Wicked“, these enchanting nail colors would sure give you the touch of ‘wickedness’ needed to complement your Halloween look.

Here is how SEPHORA describes the set:

This edgy collection celebrating the Broadway musical WICKED‘s 10th anniversary is as wickedly mesmerizing as the characters who inspired them. Each is named after an original song and captures WICKED‘s wit and Ozmopolitan charm. “Popular” was inspired by Glinda, a glistening pink in a shimmer finish that was color-matched to the iconic pink dress worn by the character during the “Popular” number. “Defying Gravity” was inspired by Elphaba, a green hue in a cream finish that signifies the extension of Elphaba’s skin color. And “One Short Day” is infused with an emerald glitter inspired by The Emerald City, where Elphaba and Glinda journey together.

Wish list – Gold Themed

Today I decided to do something different. Everybody has a wish list they would like to share with everyone, I’m going to share mine according to themes.. Today I’m doing on “Gold” theme. The objects shown below are not photographed by me, but have been collected from internet and assembled into one with bit of tweaking by me.

gold wishlist

This pair features black and yellow diamonds mounted in 18K Gold. These hoops could make lady of any age look younger and chic, and even if worn alone would look stunning!

With top notes of blood orange and neroli, heart (notes) full of jasmine and orange blossom, and base notes of amber.. this scent sounds like a “bling bling” glamorous fragrance and pretty intense that should be used sparingly yet fervidly. Just the way I like to use and the way I like my scent to be!

Patchi is a designer chocolate brand and I have once had a luxury of devouring the whole box of their popular gold Lingots .. I’m not much of a chocolate person but I tell you those were divine! I love their packaging too and I wouldn’t mind if I’m gifted with one of these gorgeous boxes. 😉

This cube consists of 216 powerful Rare Earth magnetic balls which can be shaped, molded, snapped together in uncountable ways! Sounds fun and something nice to keep me busy and distracted from the monotony around.

These are young green tea leaves and buds rolled into tea-balls that are tied with flowers (yellow lily, white jasmine and pink amaranth) covered with pure edible gold.. which when placed into a glass teapot, will open up the flowers and diffuse the gold into this fascinating hot beverage. Hmmm … it’s like I’m reading a fairy-tale packed with magic. Besides I LOVE green tea. Be it in any form. Specially these majestic gold tea-balls by Delafée, I definitely want to try once in my life time!

Wow! Just wow! Nothing less nothing more do I utter. Every single piece by Cavalli blows me away with awe and admiration. This clutch is one such piece of art that can make into a beautiful accessory for an evening party and bedazzle everyone around you. It can even be paired with another printed clutch as its lining inside.
